New Orleans, LA (March 7, 2000) -- If you're in Toledo, Ohio; Bangor, Maine, or Glasgow Scotland, you'll be able to join the party at Mardi Gras in New Orleans through webcaster FastBand GlobalCast (http://www.fbgc.com). The site based on Bourbon Street in New Orleans will be ground zero for the world's wildest party The site is using four cameras on the street to catch the chaos and hedonism.
FastBand GlobalCast is the newly launched Internet broadcaster whose signal emanates live from a glass enclosed studio on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The studio is open to the public. The site, complete with on-air personalities called "GlobalCasters," FastBand brings the listeners music that can't be heard on their local, consultant-driven radio stations. The company is planning to be in studios in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Rio de Janeiro, Bangkok and Sydney in the near future to truly become a global cast.
FastBand GlobalCast brings music and video to fans that they can't see or hear anywhere else. Recently it started showing a unique behind the scenes look into the making of Kid Rock's latest video "Only God Knows Why." On Thursday December 9th, Beatnik Web-audio technology creator and recording artist Thomas Dolby guest co-hosted The Grant Morris Show . RCA Records band Radford gave fans a first listen ton debut LP when they made their album available for listening on FastBand GlobalCast.
The site is also believed to be the first Internet broadcaster heard in a car. San Francisco cabby, Bud Carson's cab was one of a few wired by Yahoo! so that business people could go online and check e-mail and surf the net while in the taxi. Carson used the technology to entertain passengers by logging onto FastBand GlobalCast and using the broadcast as his in-car radio station.
In November 1999 two mediums blurred together as two WB Network television shows showcase songs by two FastBand Digital Recordings bands. Dragmatic's "If" and Skycopter 9's "Cosmic Explosion" were featured on episodes of WB's Dawson's Creek and Roswell respectively. Viewers of Dawson Creek were able to immediately download the Dragmatic's song "If," that they just heard on the show.
FastBand Digital Recordings is the record label of FastBand GlobalCast. It was formed to help create some of the content played on the site. The label is spearheaded by record producer Paul Fox, whose resume includes work with XTC, 10 Thousand Maniacs and Wallflowers.
In the future FastBand will be bringing live New Years broadcast from New Orleans, bands in concert, and plenty of other exclusives. FastBand Global cast is committed to being the main Internet Portal for hip music around the world.
