LIVE365 PROMOTES SALVATORE J. MEOLA TO
CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
FOSTER CITY, CA (September 11, 2001) - Live365 (www.live365.com), the world’s largest Internet broadcasting community, announced today the promotion of Salvatore J. Meola to Chief Development Officer from Senior Vice President of Engineering. Under his new title, Meola will continue to oversee all aspects of the development of all products, direct engineering, web development, QA, Operations, and IT. He will be the technology lead for product and business development and is responsible for maintaining the 24x7 operations and co-location of the Live365 network.
“Since joining Live365, Sal has improved our technical processes significantly, and helped us to create and maintain schedules across his departments for continuing innovation and improvement of the Live365 service,” said Alex Sanford, CEO of Live365. “Sal’s expertise, management skills and tireless efforts have improved the results we are able to deliver at Live365 and have helped us to remain one of the most successful names in Internet radio. During his tenure, we have already developed and deployed, among other things, the following major achievements: On Demand Audio; Start365 for easy access to the service and a listener’s pre-sets; Meetings365 for audio minutes for municipalities; a completely customized new financial billing system; and the launch of our Paid Broadcasting service and for pay premium service upgrades.”
Meola has over 26 years of international management experience in Engineering, Operations, IT, Product Management, and Sales. Prior to joining Live365, Meola was Vice President of Engineering at Catapulse, a pre-IPO company. He managed the development and launch of the first hosted development service for developers to write software over the Internet using Rational tools. Catapulse’s application became so wildly successful at its initial launch that Rational Software acquired Catapulse in its first year. Other previous employers where he has held executive positions include: Oracle, Network Associates, Gupta, Keynote Systems, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck. While at Oracle, Meola was responsible for the development and launch of Metalink, Oracle’s first browser based application still used today by all global Oracle customers to log any support issues. At Keynote Systems, Meola was responsible for global operations and IT. He managed and negotiated the deployment of over 125 servers globally co-hosted at ISPs to test customers’ web performance.
